SJA Thunder boys soccer game notes versus Rockhurst 10/19/2023, L 0–3: Thunder boys took on undefeated and nationally ranked Rockhurst this evening at home and lost a hard, fought battle 3–0. We were able to get Grady Herrington back from injury for part of the game although we lost Liam Catano halfway through with a knock to the head, hopefully nothing serious, but best to take him out. We played a lot of players tonight, and were more focused on our sub patterns, and we worked a lot on our defensive shape and were pretty effective throughout most of the game. Rockhurst had to earn their goals tonight. We had a few opportunities, but failed to connect. To summarize, we solved a lot of our defensive woes tonight, but really had no attack beyond midfield. This is promising, having done this against probably the best team we have faced, so we will see if we can add some attack in the playoffs, without giving up our more solid approach to defending. It's time for the playoffs to start and we hope to have majority of our sidelined starters back, even if not fit. Due to the unprecendented injury bug resulting in a very rough last half of the season string of losses, our low seed pits us against top 5A power and EKL champ Blue Valley Southwest in the first round next Tuesday. We will try to put it all together to take down the Timberwolves! Thanks for your support and we hope to see you at the playoffs!
God bless, Coach Enna
